JALISSA ARIE JACKSON
Jalissa Arie Jackson is an African American woman raised between South Los Angeles and Orange County suburbia, she has grown up knowing the importance of representation in media. She believes that the stories we tell have the power to influence society, and she hopes to do so for the better.
She received her B.A. in Theater-Design/Production from UCLA and now works as a costume designer, writer, and director. In her undergrad, Jalissa worked towards creating a more diverse and inclusive film and television industry through her work at Diverso. Diverso is a non-profit organization that provides fellowship programs for student screenwriters to break into the industry. While there, she served as the Executive Director by her senior year.
In recent achievements Jalissa has had the privilege of becoming a costume design head for the inaugural cohort of Issa Rae’s ColorCreative: Find Your People Program. She was chosen from 1500 applicants and worked with her cohort team to produce a fully funded short film.
